Student Privacy
A student-focused explanation of what TARK Learn collects, why it is used, and how parents can control it.
Effective May 28, 20261. Parent-Led Private Pilot
TARK Learn is currently a parent-led, invite-gated family product. Parents create the family account, add learner profiles with minimized student details, and invite students with learner codes. Students use learner ID and PIN access instead of creating email-based accounts.
2. Student Information We Handle
- Parent-provided learner details, such as first name, last initial, grade, selected school reference, and AP subjects.
- Learner-code, learner ID, hashed PIN, sign-in, and security metadata.
- Learning activity, such as answers, attempts, drafts, timing, mistake tags, mastery signals, and progress summaries.
- Uploaded notes or files, extracted text, generated study packs, flashcards, practice, and review outputs.
- Code submissions and Java runner results when a student uses code practice.
- Operational logs needed for safety, reliability, support, debugging, and abuse prevention.
3. How Student Information Is Used
- Provide student access, practice, study packs, mistake review, tests, and progress tracking.
- Help parents understand progress without showing PINs, learner-code secrets, raw private notes, raw answers, or raw code by default.
- Generate or select learning content based on the student's current course, unit, topic, mistakes, and mastery signals.
- Protect accounts, prevent misuse, operate workers, and support product reliability.
4. AI and Uploaded Notes
Uploaded notes and private student work are used to support that student's learning experience. They are not automatically promoted into the reusable global question bank. If a private pattern is useful for broader content, TARK should regenerate a generic version from abstract metadata and send it through admin validation and curation.
5. Parent Controls
Parents can ask TARK Learn to:
- Review student information connected to the family account.
- Correct student profile details.
- Delete a learner profile and associated app-level learning data.
- Export available student data.
- Pause or opt out of parent progress digest emails.
- Refuse further collection by disabling or deleting the learner profile.
Send privacy requests to privacy@tarklearn.com. We may verify the requester before acting.
6. Advertising and Sale
TARK Learn does not sell student personal information and does not use student data for behavioral advertising.
7. School Use Later
The current product is family-controlled. If TARK Learn is later used by a school, district, teacher, or education institution, that use should be covered by a written agreement before launch. That agreement should define educational purpose, access, deletion, retention, support, and any school privacy responsibilities.
8. Retention and Deletion
TARK Learn keeps student information while it is needed to provide the service, support the family account, maintain security, or meet legal and operational obligations. Parent deletion requests remove the app-level learner profile, uploads, generated study materials, attempts, progress, and setup history, subject to limited security logs, backups, and legal requirements.
