Student Privacy

1. Who runs your child's account

TARK Learn is a family study coach, in a private pilot. A parent creates the family account and adds each child. Children don't need an email address: they sign in with a code from the parent's app, or with a learner ID and PIN. The study coach is switched on for each child only after the parent gives their OK for that child, and the parent can take that OK back at any time.

2. What TARK Learn keeps about your child

• What you enter: your child's first name, grade, school and subjects.
• School records from the school sites you connect: courses, assignments, due dates, scores, missing work and message titles (sender, subject and date). Saved for your family, for each child separately (section 3).
• Practice: your child's answers, handwriting in answer boxes, and how a set felt. Ratings and marks you give.
• Plans, the daily note, and a short activity record of what you, your child and TARK did.
• Sign-in details: the learner ID and a scrambled form of the PIN, never the PIN itself.

3. How school records reach TARK Learn

You install the TARK Learn browser extension and connect each school site yourself. Nothing is read until you press Sync. Then the extension reads the pages the school site shows you, read-only:

• It reads only pages you can already see, and only when you press Sync. It never clicks buttons, submits, starts, deletes or changes anything.
• It never reads or keeps school passwords. You sign in to the school site yourself, in your own browser.
• Your child's records are saved for your family, for that child only. Siblings on one school account are kept apart.
• You can remove a site, or clear everything TARK keeps in your browser, at any time.

4. Ira, TARK's AI coach

Ira writes practice sets, lessons and the daily note, and reads teacher files you add. Ira is built to coach, not to do graded work, and is tested against requests to do it. Practice on a school item uses new questions on the same skills, never the answers to the original.

Ira runs on Amazon Bedrock, part of AWS, in TARK Learn's own AWS account. Bedrock gets only what each job needs, such as school items, a teacher file or photo you add, or a topic your child types, and never school passwords. Amazon doesn't use it to train AI models, and Bedrock's logging of requests is turned off.

5. What we never do

• We don't sell your family's data.
• We don't show ads.
• We don't use tracking tools: no analytics, session recording or ad pixels, in the app, the website or the extension.
• No one trains AI models on your family's data.

6. You stay in control

As the parent, you can:

• Give or take back the study coach OK for each child.
• See and correct what's in your child's profile.
• Get a copy of your family's data.
• Delete one child's data from the parent dashboard, or the whole family from Settings in the app.

7. How long we keep it

Your family's data stays until you delete it. A few things are kept for less time, and our logs and backups have their own limits. The full table is in section 7 of the Privacy Policy.

8. Schools

TARK Learn is chosen and run by families, not by schools. If a school or district wanted to use it with students, that would need a written agreement with the school first.
